CD-ROM Drive
CD-ROM drive does
not accept disc
1 Replace disc (if dirty or damaged).
2 Replace CD-ROM drive mechanism.
Volume control does
not operate correctly
1 Reseat CD adapter connector.
2 Replace CD adapter connector.
3 Replace CD-ROM drive.
4 Replace chassis harness assembly.
Macintosh cannot
mount CD-ROM drive
1 Reseat CD adapter connector.
2 Check SCSI ID setting. (Internal CD-ROM was originally set
to 3 at factory.)
3 Test CD-ROM drive on known-good Macintosh; if CD-ROM
drive doesn’t work, replace it.
4 Replace chassis harness assembly.
